Dear Ninjai Students & Parents,

Are you ready to buy a lightsaber for your young “Padawan” (Ninjai student) - or for yourself if you're an adult Ninjai Student!

We are currently recommending purchasing from SaberForge.com. There are many options, but we recommend the “Eco” section. They are fully active light and sound sabers at more affordable prices (starting at $165 before shipping and taxes).

• Start by going to the SaberForge.com website. 

• Click the "Sabers" tab and select "SF Eco Apprentice Sabers" for the most affordable saber handles.

• Select a handle that you like. These handles would normally range from $75 - $90. 

We recommend getting a simple handle that does not have any sharp edges or points, to avoid the chance of accidental injury in class. “Authentic” looking lightsaber hilts are difficult to use and twirl - they look cool, but they aren’t very functional. 

Once you’ve selected a handle you will be given a list of options.

• Choose the finish of your Lightsaber handle: a silvery look, a worn grayish look, or a solid black look.

• Choose the electronics that allow the lightsaber to light up and make sound. We suggest the ECO RBG electronics which will cost $85. It is a safer option, as the 2nd option has LED lights in the blade which might be damaged in class.

• Select your blade length. Here are some recommendations:

• 4' tall, select about an 18" blade

• 4' 6" tall, select about a 26" blade

• 5' 6" tall, select about a 32" blade

• 6' or higher, select about a 37" blade

• You can also try some shinai in class and find one that feels right and use that measurement as the total length of your new lightsaber.

• Choose a Plug Finish and a style Plug. We recommend using the free "Laser Cut Plug (Free)" which is automatically selected. The finish will change the overall color of that piece. The purpose of the plug is to protect the LED of your lightsaber when the blade is removed from the handle.

• Finally the site will ask if you'd like to purchase a Lightsaber Bag. You do not need to purchase one, but if you'd like to you can for an additional $40 charge.
